Remember the name: Bubba Williams. Because we have a feeling Northeast Arkansas is going to be hearing it a lot this season!
Heading into his freshman year at Valley View, Bubba has a lot to prove, and we believe he's going to go above and beyond expectations.
We've had the opportunity to work with Bubba for several years, and two things have always stood out: his work ethic and his ability to make everyone around him better.
Bubba has built a reputation as a lockdown defender and an unselfish player with outstanding passing ability. Those two parts of his game have earned him praise time and time again.
But this year? We're expecting a different Bubba Williams.
With a new role comes new expectations, especially on the offensive end. Over the last six months, we've watched Bubba take some major steps forward. His ball-handling has improved, his court vision continues to develop, and most importantly, he's becoming a legitimate scoring threat.
Shots he would've passed up a year ago? He's taking them with confidence. Attacking the basket? He's finishing through traffic and even throwing down dunks at 6'1".
But here's what should really get people excited.
For the first time, we believe Bubba is stepping onto the court with complete confidence in himself and his abilities. And when you combine that confidence with his work ethic, athleticism, and willingness to do the little things, you've got the potential for something special.
We believe Bubba has a legitimate opportunity to establish himself as one of the top freshmen in Northeast Arkansas this season. And don't be surprised if, by the middle or end of the season, he's ready to contribute at the high school level, especially on the defensive end.
What makes Bubba special isn't just his upside as a scorer. It's his positive attitude, his willingness to guard the other team's best player, and his ability to make the game easier for his teammates. Add a developing offensive game to those qualities, and his ceiling gets a whole lot higher.
By his sophomore season, we believe Bubba has the potential to be one of the best players in the area, regardless of class.
Everybody might not know who Bubba Williams is right now.
But we've got a feeling that by the end of this season, his name will be ringing bells all across Northeast Arkansas. 🔔🏀
